Graduating, what next?

I am finally graduating. After this week I will be done with my business administration degree that I spent most of the time focusing on Internet Marketing. I have learned so much about social networks, website design and more and am excited to start utilizing all that I have learned. Now all I need to do is find a job or create one of my own.
So based on my last comment I went to the pizza place I was talking about and let them know I would like experience and would like to build a website for them. The owner's wife was thrilled and stated that they have wanted to build one but didn't have the time. They also don't know a lot about the different internet marketing tools available so for me it is going to be great to see the outcome of exploring the different tools I have learned.
I will keep you posted on my new venture and try to get a site of my own posted soon.

Small Business Opportunity

A couple of days ago I was going to order a pizza. My husband and I don't order often because he really does not care for pizza. So after the debate I decided to go online to find pizza places in our area and any specials going on. Even though there are about 10 pizza joints in our small town only 2 had websites. One of them was a casual sit down Italian restaurant and the other was Domino's. Domino's was the only to allow online ordering and presented all specials and menu options. It was easy and convenient. Only problem was that I don't really care for Domino's pizza. But because this was my only online option I ordered it.
A few days before this I needed to find a dentist so I went online. Now I have seen the dentist offices in the area so I know there are at least 4 but none had a website and only 1 had anything come up.
We are from a small town so we are talking small local businesses but I see this as a true opportunity. The small businesses need to be online!!! I understand that they don't have much for budgets for this type of thing but think of all the lost sales they are missing out on from not being online.
They could at least post a free myspace or facebook page and use Google Adwords to draw users.
My point if you are interested in Internet Marketing her is a good place to start. Small businesses are vital to our futures and this could be a great way to help save them and our economy!

Website Design Helpful hints

I recently came across an article in my website design class that discusses some basic hints for website design. The title First Impressions Count in Website Design is very true. Your homepage especially can drive viewers away or bring them in for a closer look. Please let me know what you think of this article. I want to in the future help small businesses that are not online or have poor websites such as the examples in the article and I find this very useful in sharing why have good sound web design is so important. MySpace or Facebook

I am a MySpace user all the way. I like the way you can design it and make it to look like your own website. It is edgy and colorful and allows for music and videos. FaceBook however seems to be more popular with my fellow college students and international users. I am curious what the rest of the world thinks. Tell me what you use and why?

The New Newspaper

Newspapers have been online for a while now but with the wide spread decline of readers, these businesses are finding creative new ways to stay alive online. Based on a recent interview for a paper I learned of the ways a local paper can use global online companies to sell more advertising to local businesses. By working with say Yahoo a paper can sell advertising to local businesses that will offer global exposure. This might be a saving grace for small companies trying to stay a float in today's economy! There are many aspect a company can utilize this ability. They can search the world for qualified employees using the connection between the classified ads and hotjobs for example.

WebTrends

Webtrends a company that does web analytics and marketing developed the first ever model for measuring a companies online marketing effectiveness and efficiency called The Digital Marketing Maturity Model (DM3). I am trying to read more on the subject but it sounds very interesting. The CEO, Alex Yoder has created his own blog that I have started following in order to learn more about what this facinating company is doing for the Internet Marketing World.
